Extensive investment experience
As an advisor you help your client to find and evaluate new ownership partners. Perhaps they have an investment that requires external financing, or perhaps they want to divest a holding. In these situations it is valuable to know SEB Venture Capital and what we stand for.
Obviously competence and experience are important, as are financial strength and flexibility, but equally so is having a partner with a widespread network of contacts, in Sweden and across the globe.
SEB Venture Capital has extensive investment experience in Sweden and the rest of the Nordic region as well as in the UK and the Baltic countries. Many investments have been made as part of syndicates with international or Nordic partners where we have often been the lead investor.
Since we started in 1995, SEB Venture Capital has made 95 investments and divested 60 of them. Buyers include major industry players such as Motorola, Nortel, Intel, Astra Zeneca, Johnson & Johnson and Biovitrum. A number of our companies have gone public during or after our time as an owner.
As part of SEB, we have a global network of contacts few can match. We also have a capital base that gives us the flexibility and staying power necessary to prioritise long-term value creation based on what is best for the company and its owners.
Our investment focus is emerging companies within technology and life science as well as more mature growth companies from most sectors. We currently have SEK 2.4 billion in assets under management.
With an investment horizon of four to seven years, our investments range from SEK 20 million to SEK 100 million, aiming for a minority stake in the company. Board representation is a given, and when making our investment decision a dedicated management team as co-owners of the company is a deciding factor.
